The Origins of Excellence
Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School was founded in 1979 with a mission to provide a rigorous college preparatory education in a faith-based environment, fostering academic excellence, leadership, and community service. As the only co-ed African American Catholic high school in the United States, Cardinal Ritter has remained committed to empowering students both in the classroom and beyond. Athletics, particularly football, have played a crucial role in shaping the school's spirit, discipline, and tradition of excellence.

Back-to-Back Champions: 2022 & 2023 Missouri Class 3 State Championships
The 2022 season was a defining moment in Cardinal Ritter football history. After years of hard-fought battles, the Lions broke through and captured their first-ever Missouri Class 3 state championship. This victory not only crowned them the best in the state but also ended a 20-year title drought for St. Louis high school football. With a target on their backs, the Lions proved their dominance once again, successfully defending their title and becoming back-to-back state champions.
